A rumor is spreading that Govinda requested director Tigmanshu to change lyrics in a song for the upcoming film Showman. Govinda's belief that the existing lyrics were jinxed, as they somehow related to the recent death of Salman Khan's dog, spurred Govinda's request.

Is it going to be another lean year for Govinda?
The choppy Chal Chala Chal is receiving mild-to-poor reviews and Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai 's release has been pushed back.

is good news?
As the dust and tensions settles of the recent attacks in Mumbai, we must note that the global recession continues to have an affect on Bollywood. Films continue to be delayed and pushed back. There are no scheduled Govinda films to be released until the end of February 2009 - possibly early March. Chal Chala Chal remains indefinitely shelved.

Govinda wants to do an action film with stunts of international standard By Sunita Bothra on Wednesday, November 5, 2008
. . .
Govinda has hired a martial arts and physical trainer and is working on his physique.
Govinda wants to be a healthy handsome and fit. Dharamji has always been my role model.. when I look at myself in the mirror I see glimpses of him in myself. That makes me feel good."
Govinda admits that "I've done action films in the past like Hatya and Shola Aur Shabnam. But they were not full-on actioners. I now want to do an action film with stunts of an international standard. I have already lost a lot of weight. But it is not enough. I want to lose some more." On a recent trip to London, Govinda discovered yoga. Govinda's life -style has changed completely. Thanks to yoga. And though he does not admit it, it was Celina Jaitley who introduced him to a new lifestyle.
Says Govinda, "Yoga has changed my life. No matter what my schedule, I have to do yoga every morning. It is not about just losing weight.
I lost a lot of weight earlier this year when I was shooting in Bangkok with Suniel Shetty for Loot. I can get into tight clothes without cringing."

Bihari artistes on the line
Manoj Chaurasia
PATNA, Oct. 31: Bihar has now quietly begun to judicially "penalise" those supporting Mr Raj Thackeray's "hate campaign" towards Biharis ~ three of whom have paid with their lives for trying to seek employment opportunities in Mumbai in the recent violence.
Angry at his reported support for Mr Thackeray's ongoing campaigns against Biharis, the Bihar-Jharkhand Motion Pictures Association (BJMPA) has banned Bollywood actor Govinda in the twin states. Under this ban which has already come into force despite the actor clarifying his position on a TV news channel last evening, neither his new films will be released nor his old films be screened in any movie theatre in both Bihar and Jharkhand.
. . .
Film insiders said the ban is likely to cost Govinda and his film producers dearly since Govinda, originally hailing from UP ~ another Hindi-speaking northern state in the firing line of Mr Thackeray's Sena ~ has huge fans and his films have a large viewership in Bihar and Jharkhand. Experts said many of Govinda's films have been box office hits and did tremendous business in the past while his soon-to-be released film Chal Chala Chal is being eagerly awaited by his fans who come from all age-groups.

Ashish Mitra Posted: Oct 31, 2008 at 1122 hrs IST Global recession is taking its toll on Bollywood, too...
. . .
Several projects, which were being eyed with enthusiasm till a month ago, aren’t being discussed anymore. Even corporates aren’t in a mood to sign actors or start fresh projects for some time at least. Mehra however disagrees, “All this will vary from entity to entity. Viewers will not come in large numbers to see a film. A pall of gloom will soon set in that will effect the whole industry. No new film announcements, no distribution deals and no signing of actors is likely to happen for some time at least. God only will help us out of the situation.”

http://www.zeenews.com/articles.asp?aid=479146&sid=ENT&ssid=1Zee News October 28th, 2008 Govinda hopes to turn macho with a cosmetic surgery
Spicezee Bureau
Mumbai, Oct 27:
. . .
The actor in his true candid manner said, “I’m thinking of going in for corrective surgery for my skin and face. Looks sell. And I need to look my best.”
Well, we could not agree more!
With the actor looking to switch from his current genre of acting from comedies to action, a cosmo surgery is the first step to get rid of the extra flab. With several projects live, the actor would be going for the life changing experience after he finishes current professional commitments.
“My friends have sweet-talked me into it. However, before the surgery, I have to complete my current assignments. Most are either on the verge of completion or release. I have seven releases in the next one year after which I want to come back with an entirely different look” he adds.
Lets just hope that a cosmetic surgery does wonders for our old boy Chi Chi.
