Govinda: "Bring 'em on!"

The resurrected star gives it back to the gossipmongers spreading rumours
By Abhijit Mhamunkar . Sep 19, 2008

For the last few months, Govinda has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. It was reported recently that he was so paranoid for his life on the sets of Do Lucky  he demanded the mobile numbers of all the assistant directors.

Then there were rumours of him performing some mumbo-jumbo poojas and slapping director Neeraj Vohra. Stories like these and more have made many ask that big question: 'Has Chi Chi finally lost it?'

We try to find an answer.  Edited excerpts from an interview:

. . .

You had allegedly slapped director Neeraj Vohra…
Has the director come out in open about this?  Who has spread these rumours let them come out in the open and question me boldly about it. Why are they talking behind my back?  I have had no problems in politics.  People who are troubled by the fact that I am in politics are trying to do this to me.

Salman Khan launching Narmada?
No! Salman is a good friend and has helped me a lot. He has resurrected my career. It will be wrong of me to ask him for another favour. Salman Khan, Suneil Shetty, Sohail Khan, Akshay Kumar and David Dhawan are the men who have stood by me during my good times as well as bad. I am very grateful to them. I hope someday I will get a chance to repay what they have done for me.

Finally, Sohail Khan says you always keep embarrassing his family. Your reactions.
(Laughs) Yeh unka badappan hai! They believe in the adage – Neki kar aur dariya mein daal. (Too priceless to be translated)

Caroline relishes Bollywood role
MILES JERMY
18 September 2008

IT is a glamorous world of big screen idols, glitzy premieres, adoring fans and songs and saris.

Now former Caister schoolgirl, turned actress Caroline Boulton, is looking forward to seeing her name in lights alongside the stars of Bollywood.

Caroline is getting her first taste of India's multi-million-pound movie industry, starring in a film called King Kon.

It is the latest high profile role for the former Phyllis Adams School of Dance student, who now lives in London.

While many actors dream of going to Hollywood Caroline is looking forward to heading to India's movie capital Mumbai.

Scenes for the film, a comedy about an Indian con artist called Lucky who ends up as a participant in a reality TV show, have already been shot in Yorkshire.

Caroline, who plays the role of the show's presenter, has already got a taste of the fervour around Bollywood film stars.

She said: “The leading man is Govinda who is a hugely successful comedy actor in India and the director has won many Zee awards, which are like Bollywood Oscars.

“When we were filming in Leeds an enormous crowd gathered around Govinda to get his autograph, so he must be popular.

“It's a very big production and they are building all the film sets ready for us in an enormous studio in
Mumbai.

“I am not expecting to take part in any song and dance routines and speak any Hindi unless they surprise me with new scripts.

“There are a growing number of roles for English actors in Bollywood, it is a huge industry with increasing numbers of Indian films shot in the UK with British Film Council support.”

King Kon  is due to be released next year and is expected be shown at Bollywood screening cinemas around Britain.
