In Ravi Chopra's Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, Tabu shall be playing a naughty lawyer.
The acclaimed actress has never played a completely over the top sensuous character before and is excited to play the part in this Hollywood comedy, My Cousin Vinny's Bollywood remake.
Our source informs, "Ravi Chopra managed to convince Tabu in playing a sexy character for his next, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai. When she was first offered the part by him she had declined it.
But after a lot of deliberation, Chopra managed to get the Namesake starlet going in for the role. The role requires Tabu to expose her body. But since the film is a comedy she won't be presented in a vulgar manner."
. . .
In Chopra's film, Govinda shall be replacing Joe Pesci whereas Lara Dutta will play his girl friend's role.
For the nasty public prosecutor's part, Chopra has decided to cast a female character instead of the male in the original which shall be enacted by Tabu.

Govinda slaps director Neeraj Vohra before storming off the sets of Run Bhola Run in a huff

. . .
According to the source, the shoot of the film started after Govinda apologised to Neeraj Vohra. When contacted, Govinda said, "It's a rumour and there is no truth to it."
As expected, Neeraj Vohra too denied the incident by giving his own version of the commotion on the sets. He said, "I am also an actor which is why I always emote a scene myself to show how it should be enacted.
I think people on the sets thought that there was some problem as it was a high-voltage drama scene. I guess that's why people thought that the shouting and slapping was actually a fight between Govinda and me. But there is no truth to it."

Bollywood DVDs, http://www.bollywooddvds.com/search.aspx?fid=&strCat=ACTOR&pgst=1&pged=5&strKey=govinda&id=&yes=&iCode=&iid=&cP=1&tp= , of the UK offers a large catalog of films including approximately 92 Govinda films with their alternate distributions. Brief facts for each film, universal DVD format, reliable checkout and customer service make this a worthwhile site. Bollywood DVDs offer some of the hard-to-find titles, such as, Ramba Radha Rani and Jeete Hain Shaan Se. They also offer Sandwich and Hum Do Hamara Ek, but fail to mark these as being the same film which is packaged differently for European audiences. Prices are higher than competitors, but order accuracy, legal distribution copies and a return policy balances the extra cost.

She got into the Dhulia project at the eleventh hour. And she couldn't be happier. It is possibly the most challenging role in the actress' career.
"In 'King Con' I play a stripper, who's a kleptomaniac," Celina giggles. "I died laughing when I heard my role. I'm having the time of my life. I got the role just a week before shooting. I play this stripper who's half-English and half-Indian."
Celina's co-star is Govinda. She's all praise for him. "I've worked with so many leading men. He's one of those rare ones who never tries to flirt or make a pass. I don't know why people talk negatively about him. Govinda is a very spiritual person." Now Celina has one more film opposite Govinda. "We'll start working together on Aditya Datt's film. I know people are talking about me and Govinda. But he's just too nice."

It was an evening of felicitation and celebrations at the 11th Lacchu Maharaj Award Felicitation Ceremony this Monday.
As expected the who’s who of the creative and cine world turned up to attend the prestigious event. What made the event special was the fact that well-known bollywood actress and dancer Kum kum Sajjad Khan was felicitated on the occasion of 106th birth anniversary of Kathak exponent Lacchu Maharaj.
. . .
But what really disappointed most who were present at the event was the ‘No Show’ pulled by cinestar turned politician apna chi chi– Govinda. While the star had consented to be the guest of honour for the event he failed to turn up at the last moment as he had to undergo a surgery.

CD Store of Pakistan, http://www.cdstore.com.pk/india/vcdnew.html , is a company with a large stock of VCDs, DVDs and CDs. No or little information is provided for VCDs, so if you order the incorrect item, there is no refund and they have a 'No Cancellation' policy. Their site cannot be searched by actor, year, decade, genre or title. The Govinda selection is modest with only the standard films available. They offer a newsletter and clearance sales, however, their items are overpriced. $8.99 USD for a VCD is three to four times what other sites offer. DVDs which are on sale can run as low as $5.00 USD, but they do not always come with plastic cases. Free world-wide shipping is the biggest bargaining chip this company has and a major factor for US/Canadian buyers used to paying $15-20 for airmail.

You’ve worked with Govinda in three films, what is it about him that we don’t know? It is true that he is temperamental, but when he gets working he’s the most brilliant actor in terms of spontaneity!
How did you develop that amazing comic timing? Thanks to David Dhawan and Partner. Unless you give a hit with David you cannot be called a good comedian. . . .

http://www.realbollywood.com/news/2008/08/fittest-star-in-bollywood.htmlReal Bollywood
Deepika Padukone is the fittest star in Bollywood: Govinda August 28th, 2008
Q. You have been for a long time now in Bollywood. Which were your best days of your professional career? A. Starting from Shola Aur Shabnam to 1997 released film Bade Miya Chote Miya, was the best period of my life as during that period I did some good roles and that too with innocence.
Q. Now too the innocence in visible in the roles you play. How do you manage to treasure that innocence? A. As one takes care of his/her house so that it looks attractive to him/her as well as others. Likewise one should also make sure to regularly clean his/her mind thinking of Saraswati Maata. I also do the same thing.
Q. Now-a-days you are known to divert your attention more towards spiritualism; any special reason behind it? A. I am moving towards spiritualism due to my mother. For the start, I was very hot-tempered and had to indulge in fights. But once I got inspired by my mother’s teachings and became her student, life changed for me. I learnt a lot of good things from my mother. At the same time I learnt that those who are hot tempered get to meet people who are much more hot tempered than him/her.
Q. At the start of your career you portrayed a lot of serious characters. But since around ten years you are mostly seen in comedy flicks. Why? A. Frankly speaking, I was tired of portraying serious roles. I started working in the industry when I was 21 years old. Before that, since I was fourteen I have to help my mother in household works like, sweeping, washing clothes, etc. I have worked a lot throughout my life. Due to this I started going through a lot of stress and comedy brought a new freshness in my life.
Q. How do you manage a brilliant timing in comedy with your co-stars which off course is a very important aspect in comedy? A. See, in comedy more than an actor, a director has to be good in his work. If the director is good then you can even succeed in doing a comedy act with a lamppost.
Q. Amongst all the comedy flicks you have worked in until now, who has been your favourite co-star? A. I have enjoyed working with all the stars whether he is Kader Khan, Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Satish Shah, Chunky Pandey, Shakti Kapoor or even Karishma Kapoor. Whoever works with me always gives their 100 percent. Even my recent pairing with Salman Khan was appreciated by the viewers.
Q. Which film would you rate the best amongst the various movies you have done under the direction of David Dhawan? A. My favourite films are Deewana Mastana and Swarg.
Q. Which has been the toughest character to play in your career? A. I haven’t got any of such character yet.
Q. When would we see you acting in a serious cinema? A. Not until I am satisfied that the film is going to be a super hit.
Q. There is known to be two comedy schools in Bollywood now-a-days; one run by Priyadarshan whereas other by David Dhawan. How would you differentiate between the two? A. (laughs) See, the cheque that one gets from both the sides is the same. Their faces too match with each other. To be frank, when it comes to comedy cinema, South always has an upper hand. Even the films David has made have been inspired by South movies. The only difference has been in the way the script has been treated.
Q. Which is your favourite comedy scene? A. I love watching all the scenes from Dilip Kumar starrer Kohinoor and Ram Aur Shyam.
Q. Whom would you name your three all time favourite stars? A. Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. Dilip Kumar is such an institute of acting that anyone who copies him can become a superstar. Dhramendra is my favourite hero and I have got a lot of respect for Amitabh Bachchan. Even today he is very active as an actor. It wouldn’t be wrong to call him the gem of India.
Q. Have you ever copied anyone? A. I copy everyone. From whomsoever I get the right energy, I copy from there.
Q. Today you have got everything. Any such thing which you still desire for? A. I haven’t got anything yet. Infact I think that I have just started my career.
Q. It’s been said that the people who do comedy are very happy in life. What do you have to say about the same? A. It’s very true. But some times you come across some kind of people who joke about your happiness and then you have to show him some of your punches. It’s good to be nice and happy but only till someone else doesn’t use your nature in a wrong way.
Q. According to you, who are the fittest actor and actress in Bollywood? A. Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone are the fittest stars in Bollywood. Even Akshay Kumar is very fit but Amitabhji being my favourite; I would like to give him extra marks.

Chi Chi in search for a partner!
Director Rumi Jaffery is in search for a reel life partner for Govinda for his next film Life Partner that is being produced by Abbas-Mustan under Burmawalla Bros banner. Chi Chi has recently shot for a wedding scene for the film though the leading lady has yet to be signed.
The crew decided to go ahead and shoot the scene with a junior artiste since the director didn’t want to cancel the shoot at any cost. According to sources, directors shoot with Govinda whenever he is available because who knows he may not have the dates for the very next day.
However, the scene still need some close-up shots of his partner in the film whoever that may be. Both Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta are being considered for the part and once either signs on the dotted line the rest of the scene can be canned with them in the same costume.
Govinda confirmed the news, “Yes we used a dummy for that scene. It wasn't a full-length shot but just a few close-ups of the marriage scene.” The actor admits that he doesn’t even know who he is going to be paired with. The film also stars Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza, Prachi Desai and Anupam Kher and is expected to be released in early 2009.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/India_Buzz/Govinda_aala_re/articleshow/3396729.cmsThe Times of India Govinda aala re ! 24 Aug 2008, 0000 hrs IST, ROSHNI K OLIVERA ,TNN
. . .
Looks like you’re back with a vengeance... Yes, along with Money Hai Toh Honey Hai , I completed Chal Chala Chal and Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai . I have also finished Loot. And I’ll complete David Dhawan’s last schedule in October. So, by the time I start to shoot for Mani Ratnam, I’ll have finished five films this year. From November, I’ll be more relaxed and doing only one or two films. I’m looking at doing good films, working with good filmmakers. That will curb rumours about me that start floating during the making of a film.
Rumours? When I’m not in India... People feel Govinda is not here to deny, so let’s try and tarnish his image. At a political event, whenever I go there are between 50,000 to one lakh people. I stopped attending rallies because handling such a large crowd was difficult. Now people fear I’m going to come with more fame. These five films that are lined for release are all big banners and there will easily be publicity of at least 17 crore. They are worried that if I keep getting positive publicity, I will contest again. They are scared!
. . .
So how do you plan to take on your detractors? They are within my range and although I’ll try my best to forgive them, there could be repercussions. And I swear I’m not being harsh. There’s a limit to everything. They had better not mess with me. Main pehle wala seedha-saadha Govinda nahin hoon .
Yes, you seem to have lost a lot of weight... I’m on a liquid diet these days.
